South Tirol ist the center for ski tours and snow shoe hiking.
There are three main zones.
1- The Dolomites, Tours from 1000 to 3300 m with all possible degrees of difficulty are mostly renown for going through narrow patches passing rough and craggy rocks. Impressive landscapes and tough slopes up and down with breathtaking panoramic views even on short tours are possible via the also in winter completely open street network.
2- The main alpine peaks, longer tours with broader flanks and usually reachable tops are the cornerstone of these tours.
3- The glacier regions at the Ortler or the main alps are from march on the real experience, but neccessitate a good phyiscal fitness and experience with glacier areas. Your are given back unimmaginable views, endless flanks and the combination of deep powder and buttersoft firn ice.
